In my course "Writing for Public Relations", we combined a variety of elements written throughout the semester to make a media kit. The kit included a news release, backgrounder, television public service announcement, photos and captions, staff biographies and an opinion editorial. The media kit was for a company we created rather than a current, successful organization. Based on my interests, I created “American Sports Television” modeled after SEC Network and ESPN. Each element in the kit is a very basic item any public relations department or firm would produce. Other class assignments included a communication audit, social media strategy and a crisis media kit along with a mock press conference.
